Description |
One of the oldest catholic churches in the Philippines, the Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo Ruiz, also known to many as the Binondo Church, was built in 1596. Its patron saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz, is the first Filipino saint. Living under the Dominican priests, he served as a sacristan in the convent of Binondo church in his early years.
Located at Quentin Paredes St., Plaza Calderon de la Barca, Binondo, the structure reflects the Hispanic culture both outside and inside the church. Though it has been reconstructed many times due to natural calamities, it has retained the classic architecture that makes the place a wondrous sight for the most unforgettable occasion.
